A Little Something for the Winter Months...

I have been trying my hand at soups this winter season. I made my first homemade hicken noodle soup, and took it to a friend with a cold. It came out pretty good. I did cut corners and use boneless chicken breasts instead of cooking a whole chicken though. Who has that kind of time?

Below is a picture of my potato and corn chowder. I love experimenting with textures in food, so this soup was a bit of a challenge for me - I made it from scratch. It came a little thicker than chowder normally does, but luckily it didn't affect the flavor! It was good, and warmed my insides. I thought it was the perfect thing to prepare when I looked outside and saw 26 inches of snow on the ground!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!!

I know it seems strange to reference Thanksgiving in February, but I wanted to go back to my last big food event, and Thanksgiving was it! The only thing I love to do more than cook is entertain, and this past Thanksgiving I got to do both! I was able to mix a few new recipes with some old faithful ones. Here are some pics from the Big Day:

The left picture is my homemade cornbread stuffing. I also used Club crackers and white bread as filler along with the cornbread from scratch. The right picture is my Mommy's recipe for Red Velvet Cake - I've made it a million times, and it seems like it gets better every time. And I can eat the whole thing by myself. I also made a Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake, which is my spin on Classic Gooey Butter Cake. I wanted to deviate from the standard Thanksgiving pumpkin pie, but I absolutely LOVE pumpkin, so that's what I came up with. One piece will probably clog an artery, but it's worth it. It's a great Southern recipe that's been in my family for years. Below are some pics of me proudly showing off my culinary masterpieces.

I am also currently writing a cookbook. I'll keep the title to myself, cuz I think it's really cute and I don't anyone getting any ideas! So everytime I test a new recipe, I'll write about it here and post a pic (if it comes out good!). Some of my past original recipes include Amaretto Pecan Pie, I'm a Natural Blondies, homemade empanadas (different varieties) , and Pumpkin Souffle'. So if you're new to my blog, consider this your Official Foodie Call, and give me a shout out!
